A/D Recovery Mentor - Redmond, Oregon
BestCare Treatment Services in Redmond, Oregon is recruiting for an A/D Recovery Mentor.
Recovery Mentors are non-clinicians who are part of the A/D Treatment Team with high-intensity SUD-A/D clients who are attempting to engage in recovery or in early stages of recovery. Most Recovery Mentors are in recovery from addiction issues, themselves, for at least two years. As a Recovery Mentor, you would be joining a compassionate and dynamic team that cares deeply about treatment and recovery and your time would be split between outpatient clientele and residential clientele who are in the early stages of recovery. Recovery Mentors are not counselors or clinicians, but provide supports to clients that counselors are not able to offer. (transportation, telephonic support, taking clients to community support/12-step meetings, etc.). This position works with gender specific populations. Recovery Mentors are a critical part of the SUD-A/D treatment team. Recovery Mentors can work a modified schedule that includes evening and weekend hours.
This is a Full-Time regular position and includes some evenings and weekends. This position will be assigned a specific target population.

Recovery Mentors duties are not limited to, but largely consist of the following:
- Direct interactions with clients who are assigned to recovery mentoring services.
- Telephone contacts, which include talking with clients who need support and are feeling prone to relapse or make bad decisions. Also, doing reminder calls to clients who are scheduled for assessments, groups, individual sessions, etc. Doing outreach to client who miss group or individual services to attempt to reengage them in treatment services.
- Transportation (when approved by supervisor): taking clients to/from treatment services/appointments, transport to detox or residential treatment, and other appointments when it is determined to be helpful by the primary clinician or treatment team.
- Taking individual or groups of clients to 12-Step meetings and/or clean and sober activities.
- Helping monitor clients who are in residential (and detox) to stay connected to them and ensure that they remain connected to Outpatient Services.
- Referrals to various services, when appropriate (i.e. Food Bank, LINC, primary care/medical services, community college, parenting, etc.).
- Case management services, including documentation.
- Helping clinicians in groups at the office, etc. Providing back-up in groups and other treatment activities.
- Helping clients develop and connect to non-using recovery activities (how to have fun clean and sober).
- Help the SUD-A/D Treatment Housing Coordinator supervise and check on the A/D Treatment Housing to ensure a safe, clean/sober environment for assigned clients.
- Assist the A/D treatment team with client drug testing (UA’s).
- Document client contacts in client case notes.
- Help track/monitor client attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Recovery Mentors will work closely with their Supervisor to design and implement education, referral, and parent components of the program. The Recovery Mentor will be responsible for helping to facilitate classes and support groups along with group activities to insure that they are sufficiently supervised and run smoothly. They will maintain a personal recovery program, if appropriate, as well as model recovery-appropriate behavior.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Have a current certification for Recovery Mentor issued by the state licensing body. New Hires that do not hold a current certification must make an application within the first six months of employment and receive the certification within 36 months of the application.
- Familiarity with substance abusing population and people with disabilities.
- Must be able to demonstrate continuous sobriety under non-residential, independent living conditions for the immediate past two years.
- Valid Driver’s license and appropriate auto insurance.
- Must get along with co-workers and have the skills to be a team player.
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of alcohol and drug addiction and detoxification; community resources and recovery programs.
- Specific knowledge of 12-Step programs is a plus.
- Communicate clearly, concisely and effectively orally and in writing
- Maintain documentation in the EMR program.
- Work well with clients and families of diverse backgrounds.
- Work independently and as a team member. Must have the ability and willingness to get along with co-workers.
- Ability to function in crisis situations.
- Able to work effectively as a member of an A/D treatment team.
- Show respect and compassion for individuals struggling with addiction issues.
